This study had as its principal objective to determine the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic satisfaction in university students from Lima. It also tried to determine differences by sex and virtual study time. This research was non-experimental, with a transversal design, and on a correlational level. 220 students participated in it (66.4% female, 36.6% male), from Health Sciences and Psychology faculties, with ages varying from 18 to 30 years of age. The main instruments used for this research were a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Brief Scale of Satisfaction with Studies (EBSE) and the Scale of Specific Perceived Self-Efficacy of Academic Situations (EAPESA). Results showed a positive and statistically significant correlation between academic self-efficacy and academic satisfaction; it was also found that men scored higher than women in self-efficacy. Nevertheless, regarding virtual study time, no significant differences were reported among the students. In conclusion, it’s become more important to notice the factors that may have an effect on a university student’s satisfaction regarding his studies and the idea of his own academic performance; with the purpose that institutions and families ensure an optimal environment for the psychological and academic development of the student.
