Centennials have changed the way they search for information, opting for non-traditional platforms. TikTok has become the main option to obtain information on various topics of interest to young people, this projects the need to study the impact this has on their development and behavior. Based on the content related to skin care, as it is a current phenomenon, with a social and health impact, the following question is posed:: How do young users use TikTok as a means of information about skincare in Metropolitan Lima? We addressed this question with the objective of analyzing and determining why they have a preference for this platform to receive guidance on a topic that involves health and what would be the consequences of doing so through this channel. Through the category “TikTok as a means of information“ and subcategories: content, user and experience. A qualitative research was carried out, using a semi-structured interview guide with 25 young users between 18 and 25 years old in Metropolitan Lima as an instrument. The results showed that users spend almost 8 hours on the platform, most of them use the search function to find specific content quickly. The credibility of the content was based on testimonials, exposure of daily skin care routines and scientific or professional endorsement. However, some users claimed to find suspicious content, leading them to seek additional information on other platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and Google.
