Objective: Associate self-esteem with self-perception and satisfaction of dental aesthetics in young adults from Lima, Peru. Materials and Methods: The present study was of an analytical cross-sectional type. A total of 151 young adults were surveyed, ranging in age from 18 to 30 years. For the evaluation of self-esteem, the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale was used. Likewise, for the self-perception of dental aesthetics, the OHIP aesthetic questionnaire was used, while a self-report question was used for satisfaction of dental aesthetics. In addition, sociodemographic characteristics and variables related to defects and aesthetic treatments were evaluated. The Poisson regression with robust variance was used for the association of the variables, reporting crude and adjusted incidence rates. The confidence level was 95% and the level of statistical significance was <0.05. Results: A low negative correlation was found between self-esteem and self-perception of dental aesthetics, but no significant differences were found with satisfaction of dental aesthetics. No association was observed between self-esteem and self-perception of dental aesthetics (TRI 0.99, 95% CI 0.99-1), in the same way no relationship was found between self-esteem and satisfaction with dental aesthetics (TRI 1, 95% CI 0.95-1.06). Conclusions: Self-esteem is not associated with self-perception and satisfaction of dental aesthetics in the studied sample.
