Videogame localization consists of translating the text and, on certain occasions, dubbing the voices of the videogame without affecting its context and meaning; at the same time, elements of the text are incorporated or modified to attract a specific audience. This research aims to analyze the intertextual elements based on memes and other audiovisual media in the Spanish localization of the videogame Genshin Impact, as well as the reaction and repercussion of these elements from Latin American players’ point of view. Therefore, we propose to use a mixed methodology through content analysis, questionnaires, and interviews. In this sense, we intend to apply the questionnaires to a minimum of 100 Latin American Genshin Impact players in order to know the players’ profile, their perceptions, and perspectives about the incorporation of intertextual elements in the Spanish localized version. In addition, it is proposed to conduct interviews to deepen the players’ opinions. In this way, we seek to convey the experiences of Latin American players regarding the transcreation.
