Objective: To identify the frequency and factors associated with the use of the walker in children in the city of Metropolitan Lima. Material and methods: The study was observational, cross-sectional, and analytical. The population was composed of 406 participants. The variables were the use of the walker and the associated factors (favor walking, dangerous for children, cesarean delivery, age of the mother and years of education of the mother), the instrument used was a questionnaire elaborated in Google-forms. Results: Of the 406 participants, a frequency of 73.65% was found. Likewise, the factors associated with the use of the walker were cesarean delivery (p<0.001), use of the pacifier (p<0.002), favor walking (p<0.001), knowledge about the consequences of using the walker (p<0.003), knowledge of posture and balance when walking (p<0.001) and the importance of crawling in standing (p<0.001). RPa, adjusted for potential confounding variables Conclusions: A high frequency of use of the walker in children of the city of Metropolitan Lima is reported. The use of the walker in children is associated with the belief that it facilitates walking, type of delivery, use of a pacifier, knowledge of the consequences of using a walker, knowledge of posture and balance in walking, and the importance of crawling in standing.
