COVID-19 generated a great impact in the hotel sector causing increased stress in the employees of hotels and effects such as anxiety, depression and exhaustion. These effects caused by job stress affected their job performance, since many of them experienced such a complex situation for the first time and the hotels were not prepared for an event of such magnitude. Thus, the general objective of this research was to analyze job stress in hotel employees as a result of COVID-19. The methodology applied was the literature review with an integrative approach that gathers information from academic sources such as articles, theses and books. Among the main findings, stress experienced by hotel employees negatively affects their mental health and organizational and customer commitment. In addition, job insecurity was the main concern for hotel employees because they were being laid off to cover revenue losses and reduce costs. This research is of great help to hotel establishments because it contributes to the knowledge of the importance of the mental health of their collaborators due to job stress. For this reason, the research made it possible to identify the factors that trigger occupational stress due to COVID-19 and the mechanisms to mitigate the negative impact of job stress in employees and lead to a productive and satisfactory life.
