The current project has the objective to design Application Integration Architecture between ERP SAP S4/Hana and SaaS platform for tracking and managing freight transport fleet to optimize the monitoring and control process of distribution of sold products in ecommerce channel from a capital goods company (heavy machinery mainly for mining and agroindustrial companies) and original spare parts (hereinafter called The Company). This project presents a study case in The Company that has ERP SAP S4/Hana that requires integration with a SaaS Platform for tracking and managing freight transport. It aims to reduce transportation costs, reduce time and errors processing accounting documents of distribution process, and improve sales from ecommerce channel and customer satisfaction with updated information of order shipment. The solution proposed considers the microservice integration architecture design of the ERP SAP S4/Hana (hereinafter called SAP) and a SaaS (Software as a Service) application for transportation tracking (hereinafter called EnviosTrack). First, data entities from both platforms were standardized, then the low-level forms prototype of a new SAP module that manages new data required for the SaaS platform were designed. Four phases were considered through the project: Evaluation and selection of the SaaS platform for logistics monitoring that satisfies business and technical requirements for SAP integration. Description of functional requirements for the application integration, using user stories and defining a product backlog. Design of multi-layer architecture, considering business, applications, data and infrastructure layers, based on TOGAF. Planning project timeline implementation using SCRUM and doing the economic analysis of the project. For project validation, the company formed a multidisciplinary Evaluation Committee (hereinafter The Committee) that would evaluate compliance with the requirements and economic feasibility. For technical validation, the integration capabilities of the SaaS platform were evaluated in first phase, and the integration architecture design between SAP and SaaS application were evaluated in third phase. To evaluate economic feasibility, the investment required by the project was quantified with a return-on-investment analysis which was validated by The Committee. Finally, the Committee, commercial and transportation areas agreed on the implementation of the proposed solution, projecting an enhance in sales through the ecommerce channel, an improvement in customer satisfaction indicator, a reduction in transportation cost and in errors of accounting information.
