The geological wealth and legal framework of private investment have made mining one of the most important economic activities for Peru, due to its contribution to the economic and commercial levels. However, this industry is also known for being one of the ones that causes the most adverse effects on a social and environmental level, affecting the continuity of operations. In response to current conditions, new economic approaches have emerged that seek to ensure that economic activity is sustainable in the long term. One of these approaches is the circular economy. This economic model allows companies to be more environmentally, socially, and economically conscious, promoting good practices in operations. Therefore, the fundamental purpose of this thesis is to establish the connection between the circular economy and Peruvian copper exports to China between 2016 and 2021. On the one hand, the dimensions analyzed for the variable “circular economy“ are: “environmental dimension“, “social dimension“, “economic dimension“. On the other hand, the dimensions analyzed for the variable “exports“ are: “FOB value“ and “export volume.“ This research focused on a quantitative methodology with a correlational scope and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. A Likert-type scale questionnaire was used as a measurement tool, and data was collected through surveys directed at 30 executives from 10 Peruvian exporting companies in the mining sector, which represent 52.63% of the sample. In addition, the analysis of the data obtained shows that there is a medium positive relationship between the study variables: circular economy and competitiveness in exports. It was concluded that the economic and social dimensions of the circular economy have an impact on the exports of HS code 2603.00.00.00 (copper and its concentrates), since it was possible to verify that both dimensions are positively related to the dependent variable.
