The present study proposes the use of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to achieve the improvement of the mechanical properties of a clay soil at the subgrade level on a highway located in the central jungle of Peru. In much of the territorial extension of the Peruvian jungle, the present soil is clayey. The characteristics of this land make it difficult to carry out road infrastructure works; For this reason, alternatives should be sought to improve its mechanical properties and extend the useful life of the road. For this purpose, crushed PET will be incorporated in different percentages with respect to the mass of the soil. The method of evaluating the proposed dilemma is by carrying out CBR tests on the studied soil, with crushed PET dosages of 3%, 4%, 5%, 10% and 15% with respect to the soil mass. Through the incorporation of crushed PET, an increase in the bearing capacity of the soil was obtained as a result, making it suitable for its subsequent use in the subgrade of road works. This proposal does not consist only in generating a positive technical impact but also an environmental impact.
