The main objective of this research is to determine the impact of international trade on the development of the working conditions of workers in the Peruvian agro-export sector within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between Peru and the European Union. The approach used for the research is qualitative and 11 interviews were conducted with experts in international trade and labor rights. On the one hand, it was found that international trade has had an impact on the development of labor conditions in the Peruvian agro-export sector; however, this impact has not been significant, in other words, the commercial growth experienced by this sector has been considerably higher than the development of individual and collective labor rights. The ineffectiveness of Law 27360, the low level of compliance with labor rights by agroexport companies, the low union rate and the still insufficient labor inspection by SUNAFIL have had a negative impact on the progress of labor rights. On the other hand, although the FTA between Peru and the EU considers labor issues, it is still not very representative in the development of labor rights in this sector, since the buyer countries take an external stance.
