The present work proposes a solution to reduce vehicular conflicts in an activity center crossed by a high-traffic road based on the sectorization by different behaviors and actuated traffic lights. Specifically, it was developed in a section of Panamericana Norte ave., blocks 10 to 14, in the city of Lambayeque. In this section, urban and interdistrict vehicles coexist, which have different behaviors and interrupt an important center of activities in Lambayeque. To do this, various data were collected to characterize vehicular and pedestrian behavior, and to describe the study area. Then, with the processed data, a microscopic model was built. This model was calibrated and validated to ensure that the model represents the behaviors observed in data collection in the field. After this, various strategies were proposed based on the development of algorithms that govern actuated traffic lights by traffic and sectorizations by different behaviors. After this, the number of conflicts for each of the proposals was quantified and compared with the conflicts obtained in the field. A reduction of 44% of the conflicts found in the field was evidenced. Likewise, a projection was made at 5, 15 and 25 years in which it was verified that the proposed model is viable, since it maintains 20.3% fewer conflicts with respect to the current situation.
