The aim of this study was to describe the psychologists’ experiences of a sample of psychologists who practiced telepsychology in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. A qualitative study was conducted applying phenomenological interviews to 12 Peruvian cognitive behavioral psychologists who provided virtual private consultation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of this study indicate that the experience was physically and mentally exhausting but at the same time satisfactory since it was described to be a rewarding experience, both at a personal and professional level. During the transition process, the psychologists experienced uncertainties and emotions that they perceived as unpleasant. They also questioned previous beliefs and had to make adaptations in infrastructure and clinical management. In addition, they took care of the application of ethical procedures and evaluated the intervention risks and protocols. It is concluded that practicing telepsychology in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic was exhausting due to the changes it entailed. Furthermore, despite the limitations found, telepsychology interventions are considered to be viable and effective since there is the possibility of establishing a therapeutic relationship and obtaining favorable results through virtuality.
