The investigation entitled “Incidence on the durability of concrete designed with the addition of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) at 0.1%, 0.5% and 1.0% compared to a conventional one in structural elements of houses in the district of Ancón - Lima“, is based on methodology experimental and aims to determine the effect on durability with the addition of PET flakes, which tests on the properties of conventional concrete which must be in a hardened state, and as well as to identify the optimal percentage. The materials used in this investigation are: Portland cement SOL type 1, coarse aggregate and fine aggregate from the San Martin quarry. PET material is obtained from the crushing of recycled plastic bottles. The research recycles PET samples adding flakes to the concrete in percentages of 0.1%, 0.5% and 1.0% according to the compressive strength tests at 7, 14 and 28 days, it was found that, with the increase in the quantity of PET, the compressive strength decreased and the samples containing 0.10% PET achieved an average result of less decrease in compressive strength. The water absorption results at 70, 80 and 90 days showed that, compared to other samples, the mixture containing 0.10% PET has the lowest water absorption, which is also confirmed in the test of the percentage of permeable pore volume. obtained with the same sample. The best result is the sample with 0.10% PET performed better in terms of compressive strength and other properties that were tested.
