The violence and poor living conditions in which many children and adolescents in Peru find themselves generate the need to create shelters for their care and proper development. For this reason, the next research will develop the design criteria for a public infrastructure that meets the demand for a Residential Care Center (RCC, or CAR in Spanish). With this, this architectural project will allow the elaboration of an infrastructure that places children and young people in a center of protection and care. This is because the creation of a shelter would foster a community space, where children feel identified with their environment, as if it were a large family core. Additionally, this project also develops spaces that function as transitory zones between activities and/or functions, to achieve a connection between peers and caregivers. In this way, they work on the sense of ownership with the shelter, as if it were their home. Finally, the location of the project in Lurigancho-Chosica will allow its surroundings to be adequately equipped to provide basic services to its users, without losing contact with nature. This idea is reinforced by the fact that it is a territory enabled to produce crops, which would encourage the contact of children and young people with the community outside the center, and would help in their individual growth by including environments in which to develop these activities.
