Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is a respiratory infection whose etiological agent is Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB is associated with overcrowding, people infected with HIV, poverty, among others. Due to this, levels of stigma are generated that affect the process of diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Therefore, the existence of this problem, the present work seeks to validate the instrument “Stigma towards tuberculosis“ for the Peruvian population. Objective: To adapt and validate the instrument “Stigma towards tuberculosis“ in the Peruvian population. Methodology: This validation study was carried out in 2 phases: Cultural adaptation and validation of the instrument per se. In the first phase, the Delphi methodology was used. Then, the instrument was applied in 30 patients (first visit) without tuberculosis who go to the outpatient clinic of a maternal and child health center Manuel Barreto of the Integrated Health Network (RIS) San Juan de Miraflores. Also, in 2 weeks later, a second visit was made to perform the test-Retest to the same population in order to know if the subjects to study understand the adapted version of the instrument. In the second phase, the survey was applied to 250 people who attended the outpatient clinic of the same center of the first phase. Results: All items of Stigma towards tuberculosis obtained I-CVI values greater than 0.80, without exception. In addition, in the first and second visits a high reliability was obtained. The test-retest showed that the construct has a positive linear progression and a high level of confidence. Conclusion: According to the data found, it is concluded that the instrument “Stigma towards tuberculosis“ Peruvian version has a reliability index of high ranges just like the Colombian version.
