Precedent: Obsessive compulsive disorder has been associated with preventive and compulsive behaviour like extreme hygiene. Due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19 health entities established recommendations regarding hand hygiene and personal care, as well as social distancing. This study’s objective is to determine the presence of OCD traits in adults between the ages of 18 and 30 in Metropolitan Lima in relation to preventive behaviors due to COVID-19. Method: Cross-sectional observational study conducted in Lima, Peru during the Covid-19 pandemic A group of 59 people were recruited through a non-probability sampling through social networks, to which inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, leaving 52 eligible participants. The Yale-Brown scale was used to assess the presence of OCD traits and a scale of level of preventive behaviors formulated by the researchers. Results: In the bivariate analysis, a p> 0.05 was found for preventive behaviors with respect to OCD traits and a p <0.05 for physical activity, presence of another mental disorder in respect to OCD traits. In the crude model of Poisson regression, a prevalence ratio of 2.5 (p <0.05 and 95% CI 1.45 - 4.30) was found for high-level preventive behavior with respect to minimal behavior. Comparing men over women, a prevalence ratio of 0.68 (p> 0.05 and 95% CI 0.42 - 1.10) was found with respect to OCD traits. Conclusion: An association was determined in the level of physical activity and in the presence of concomitant disorders, both in relation to the presence of OCD traits (p<0.05). An increasing association was concluded through the presence of OCD traits and a highly preventive behaviour.
