Introduction: The high mortality rate from sepsis leads to an adequate level of medical personnel for its identification, approach and correct treatment. However, several studies report a not optimal knowledge in doctors (assistants and residents) of different countries about this syndrome. Despite this, there is no research regarding the knowledge of sepsis in last year medical students and which factors contributed to their learning. This fact must be analyzed in more studies, since this population will be a general practitioner and require the appropriate knowledge of sepsis to intervene in the most optimal and effective way before its presentation. Objective: Determine which extrinsic factors are associated with the level of knowledge of sepsis in last year human medicine students from 2021-2022 of the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences of Lima, Peru Materials and methods: Observational, analytical and cross-sectional study, based on the application of questionnaires on knowledge of sepsis and extrinsic factors of each UPC last year medical student from 2021-2022. The association was evaluated by bivariate analysis and generalized linear model of the Poisson family. Results: In the bivariate analysis there was significance only in attending some training related to sepsis (p = 0.021) and adequate knowledge. In the adjusted model we found association with the same variable mentioned. In the crude model it was a p 0.020 and in the epidemiological, p 0.038. Discussion: It is important to encourage more lectures or extracurricular courses related to medical emergencies, since it enhances the knowledge acquired.
