Although the phenomenon of erotic language is a universal concept, it is constructed according to the culture, ideology, and context in which it is situated, and its translation is conditioned by the interaction of these same factors in a specific environment. Therefore, this research is focused on analyzing the erotic language in the first translation from Spanish to Chinese of the novel Pantaleón y las visitadoras, published by Mario Vargas Llosa in 1973, translated by Sun Jiameng in the post-Maoist context and the end of the Cultural Revolution. Through the collection of passages from the book Pantaleón y las visitadoras, a content analysis will be conducted in order to identify the phenomenon of erotic language in the text of the Peruvian writer. In addition, contrastive textual analysis with the first Chinese translation Pandalei'ang shangwei yu laojun nülang will be conducted with the aim of interpreting the translation strategies and techniques employed by Sun Jiameng. On the basis of these analytical techniques, we will be able to describe how the historical and social context influenced the translation of erotic language in this book and, thus, provide an answer to our research objective.
