The subject of this thesis is the descriptive and comparative study of the meaning of the coverage of the newspapers “El Comercio”, the radio station “Rpp Noticias” and the TV channel “Latina” through their social networks in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic during the month of September 2021. Previous works and proposals on journalism and social networks have been compiled for the research. In this way, we will be able to understand the evolution of digital journalism. We will also define the process of convergence of digital media. To make this possible, we will first present the process of evolution and consolidation of Peruvian newspapers on the Internet. After that, we will describe the characteristics of digital journalism. This will serve us for the final analysis, where we will make a comparison of the characteristics present in the social networks of the media under study. The contribution of this research, will be to determine if the coverage of “El Comercio”, “Latina” and “RPP Noticias” about Covid-19 on their social networks (Facebook and Instagram), during the month of September 2021, met the characteristics of digital journalism to determine if social platforms are a viable tool for the development of journalism.
