The objective of this thesis is to analyze the variation of the coastline generated by coastal erosion and sedimentation processes between 2001 and 2020, in Callao Bay. Natural factors (geomorphology, geology, slopes, and coastal dynamics) and anthropogenic factors were considered since the bay shows a constant tourist and economic activity. LANDSAT and SENTINEL satellite images were processed with ARCGIS 10.5 and QGIS 3.20.2. Statistical analysis tools of the DSAS 5.0 (Digital Shoreline Analysis System) complement were applied, obtaining average rates of coastal evolution for a 20-year period (2001 - 2020) and by decades (2001 - 2010 and 2011 - 2020). On the one hand, zones with a slight tendency to erosion were identified, which were centered in places with a steeper slope around Ventanilla and near the Peru Port Terminal. These zones had average shoreline variation rates of -0.13 and -0.38 meters per year. On the other hand, sedimentation was recurrent, generating high rates in areas near the sedimentation cones of the Rimac and Chillon rivers. In addition, from the temporal analysis of coastal evolution, the impact of the El Niño phenomenon, which occurred in 2017, was identified, generating a notable increase in the average sedimentation rate to 11.85 meters per year. Finally, a comparison analysis was made between the “Aquamonitor of Luijendijk et al. (2018)“ and this thesis where it showed the same erosion and sedimentation trends.
