In the field of audiovisual translation, there is a consensus that audio descriptions (ADs) should convey to visually impaired people the perception not only of the visual content, but also the emotions conveyed by the scenes. The preference of people with any visual impairment for AD features varies depending on the type of film to be transmitted or the emotion that a scene wants to convey. Therefore, the present research will focus on visually impaired people and their perception of fear from ADs of horror movies. In this context, the analysis of perception on textual content, non-verbal elements, and the ADs as themselves are essential to achieve a broader knowledge on the variations that the ADs must make to fulfill their purpose. To achieve this objective, it is proposed to survey and interview 10 to 15 visually impaired people from the Centro de Rehabilitación de Ciegos de Lima (CERCIL) after transmitting them 6 scenes from 3 horror movies. The scenes will be selected based on an analysis of the verbal and non-verbal elements they present. What is expected from this research, based on the results of similar studies in other genres, is to know the preferences that visually impaired people have about the ADs of the horror genre and a response to whether the ADs manage to convey this emotion of fear in them.
