The present study aimed to describe the vulnerability experience in repatriated Peruvians who were stranded in the United States because of COVID-19. Therefore, a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach was developed. 10 university students participated and an in-depth interview was used as the data collection instrument. The main findings showed that all the participants experienced vulnerability in all its forms (physical, economic, social, institutional and informational). This vulnerability modulated their probability of getting injured, suffer illnesses, accidents or physical and emotional injuries. These factors reduced their ability to respond to uncertainty to some extent. Likewise, it was found that the experiences of the participants were very similar in terms of initiation, activators, emotions, interactions, ending, global meanings, status and learnings. It is concluded that, paradoxically, feeling powerless in the face of adversity can actually act as a motivator for self-betterment.
