The objective was to relate emotional exhaustion and academic self-efficacy, through the Emotional Exhaustion Scale and the Academic Situations Specific Perceived Self-efficacy Scale. It is a cross-sectional and correlational study, carried out with 200 medical students (67.4% woman) between 18 and 38 years old (M = 21.14, SD = 2.13). A negative, significant and moderate magnitude correlation was determined (rho = -.487, p <.01). In addition, women have a higher emotional exhaustion score and men have a higher academic self-efficacy score. Also, 44% of the participants obtained a high level of emotional exhaustion, likewise 57.5% achieved a low level of academic self-efficacy. The implications of the findings within the academic context are discussed.
