This study aims to determine the relationship between the self-efficacy and the entrepreneurial intention in students from private colleges of Metropolitan Lima, as well as identifying differences in these variables according to the type of career. The sample was comprised of 143 college students between 18 and 25 years old, where 31.5 % were male and 68.5 % were female; 57 % of the students belong to the Faculty of Humanities and 43 % to the Faculty of Business. The Peruvian validation of the General Self-efficacy Scale (GSE) by Grimaldo (2005) and the Colombian adaptation of the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) by Laguía, Moriano & Gámez (2017) were applied. A positive and significant relationship was obtained between the self-efficacy and the two dimensions of the EIQ scale: entrepreneurial self-efficacy (r= 0.43) and entrepreneurial intention (r= 0.41). Furthermore, differences in the dimensions attitude towards the entrepreneurial behavior, self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention was found, where the business students obtained significantly higher score than the humanities students, even though these differences were small. According to these findings, the relationship between self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention is confirmed, thus contributing to the student’s decision making regarding starting their own business from the creation of the idea to the implementation process.
