In Peru, the level of education of the population has been rising over the years, with the population without education decreasing while the group of people who complete secondary school and reach higher education has been increasing. Every year in the country about 500,000 young people graduate from secondary school, and of these only 37.7% go on to higher education. The main objective of this research is to identify the determinants of the demand for higher education in Peruvian households in 2018. The analysis of educational choice is performed with the Logit model, taking into consideration relevant elements such as: individual, social, economic and academic factors. Therefore, use is made of the National Household Survey (ENAHO) to determine the variables that motivate secondary school graduates to continue their preparation for higher education studies. It was decided to take the ENAHO 2018 as the main base. As a result of previous research, it could be deduced that households with higher purchasing power are more likely to have members with higher education. In addition, owning all basic services increases the probability that household members are participating in post-secondary studies. However, not having adequate vocational guidance from the schools where they take their classes and their parents may present problems when choosing which career to study and in which study center.
