This research reviews the effects of motherhood on the labor supply of women in Peru, for the year 2019. Taking the theoretical model of Van Soest and Gong (2002) to review the effects of children on the allocation of women's time in terms of their job offer. Likewise, the econometric study was carried out using modules 2, 4 and 5 of the National Household Survey (ENAHO) provided by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru (INEI). Instrumental Variables (IV) were used through a two-stage least squares model (LS2S). In which, the first stage corrects the endogeneity associated with women's fertility decisions with the instrumental variables suggested by Angrist and Evans (1998): samesex and Two girls, Two boys. While in the second stage these effects are measured, with respect to the number of weekly hours worked, with a set of covariates suggested by the review of the literature. Among the main results found in this research, it is shown that the children significantly and negatively affect the working hours of the mother. Finally, conclusions are offered from what was found and what the reviewed literature mentions.
