The objective of this work is to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the investment insurance portfolio companies in Metropolitan Lima in 2020, and how it affects their profitability. The value of the premiums, number of claims and coverage and policies coverage by the investment portfolio, and the net margin, ROE and ROA, as part of the profitability, will be developed accordingly. Likewise, this work will be focused on the insurance sector in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The investment portfolios of Peruvian insurance companies are divided into assets and liabilities, in this it is sought that the portfolio of assets can support the portfolio of liabilities. This is achieved through national bonds, foreign bonds, investments, among other debt and equity instruments and investment property. On the other hand, in terms of profitability, insurance companies have been able to cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, that is, their operations with their clients have been maintained despite the fact that there was a variation in the Peruvian economy. Therefore, in this thesis, it will be evaluated if there is a significant impact of the investment portfolio due to COVID-19 on the profitability of insurance companies in terms of life products in 2020.
