The objective of the research was to describe the coping that mothers have in the face of the crises of their adolescent children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A qualitative study with a phenomenological design was carried out and the semi-structured in-depth interview technique was applied to 10 mothers of children diagnosed with ASD. The data collected was analyzed using the thematic analysis strategy. The results show that coping was a dynamic process that was adapted to the demands of their children. In the infant stage, mothers focused on resolving crises through knowledge and learning of personal, family, social resources, and ASD specialists. This allowed them to learn a series of strategies used until today. Finally, by having resources, the mother manages to face events positively, regulates her emotional state and has expectations of improvement for her children. It is concluded that in the adolescent stage, mothers face their children's crises by focusing on their emotional regulation and then act effectively with the resources learned in the childhood stage.
