The general objective of this research was to show the authors' position on the assessment and measurement of organizational culture in organizations. To achieve this objective, the research was based on a literature review based on scientific articles published in the period 2014-2021 available in scientific databases such as Web of Science, JSTOR, ProQuest and SciELO. Likewise, the following were used as search keywords: organizational culture, variables and measurement. The content analysis was carried out by means of categorization matrices according to the theme and sub-themes established a priori, which were performed in the Excel program. The findings revealed a controversy regarding the conceptualization of organizational culture, revealing that it can be defined as a dynamic set of norms, values, beliefs and attitudes shared by the members of an organization, which influences their behavior and business performance. Likewise, a second controversy was revealed regarding the selection of the measurement instrument, obtaining excellent assessment and evaluation alternatives such as the OCAI questionnaire, but which still present application limitations, so this controversy should be addressed in further research. The results have practical implications such as serving as information for the design of organizational culture improvement plans.
