This paper analyzes the use of the dimensions of media competence in citizens when interpreting the interview conducted by Fernando del Rincón to Pedro del Castillo. The objective of the study is to analyze the use of the dimensions of media competence in citizens when interpreting the interview conducted by Fernando del Rincón to Pedro del Castillo. An interpretative paradigm methodology is used, with a qualitative approach and a phenomenological design, a sample of ten Peruvian citizens between the ages of twenty and thirty and a semi-structured in-depth interview of forty open questions as a data collection technique. The results of the research indicate that the interviewed citizens partially use the dimensions of technology, production and dissemination and aesthetics; whereas, the dimensions of language, processes of interaction and ideology and values are fully usedd; concluding that, the interviewees have a partial profile of compliance with the discernment capabilities to face in an assertive way various political contents that can be presented in digital media. The study contributes to the identification of motivation as an attitude that prevents the total use of dimensions to create content that contributes to society.
