In the present study, an estimate of the Water Balance of Lake Chinchaycocha located in the regions of Junín and Pasco, Peru, is established. Information on bathymetry, demands and existing offers was collected; In addition, the data of more than 30 meteorological stations of which we worked with 21. This is due to the result of a consistency analysis which determined the existing homogeneity. Likewise, the basin of the said lake was delimited with the help of ArcGIS software, and the information collected was processed through different programs, such as Hydraccess, Hec-4, and WEAP. Subsequently, a hydrological simulation model was built with the WEAP software, which has allowed determining the discharges of each of the tributaries to Lake Chinchaycocha and estimating the water balance, considering the hydro-energy, mining, and population demand; in addition to this, the bathymetry of the lake. The need to carry out this study is since there is a deficit in the water supply for the generation of hydroelectric power that must be addressed, for which it is necessary to know the deficits and surpluses of water, as well as the existing contributions in the different periods of the year. The results found in the present study are the existing water supply by the tributaries considering the demand in the contributors, and the existing Water Balance considering the current operating rule in force in the lake regulation dam. Currently, the maximum level of operation is 4081.5 meters above sea level, which allows storage of 1148 MMC, of which the useful volume is 560 MMC. On the other hand, in the rainy season, there is a surplus of 106.71 MMC that is lost through the spillway of the Upamayo dam and there is also a water deficit of 61.569 MMC for the generation of hydroelectric power in the dry season. Lake Chinchaycocha is the second largest lake in Peru with a water mirror area of the order of 313 km2 that causes evaporation of the order of 7,108 m3/s from June to December.
