The amount of commercial film production in Latin America is greater than that of regional cinema. In addition, the participation of women in regional cinema has always been lower compared to men who occupy more positions both in the production of a film and in the interpretation of the main characters. Also, female characters in most cases are usually subordinated by male main characters. This research seeks to analyze the representation of Andean women in contemporary regional cinema, specifically in the films “Pájaros de verano“ and “Magalí“. This paper will study concepts related to gender roles, intersectional approach, ethnic stereotypes and character dimension which are presented in the representation of Andean women in Latin American regional cinema. To this end, a methodology with an interpretative paradigm is proposed, whose approach is qualitative. In addition, through a case study he analyzes the content of the mentioned films. The possible result could show that Andean women do have a representation in regional cinema without ethnic stereotypes or gender roles.
