The objective of this thesis is the vulnerability assessment of a building built in the 80s, through linear time-history analysis and preliminarily proposing reinforcement methods. The building under study is located at Av. Ricardo Palma 278, district of Miraflores, Department of Lima, this building has more than 35 years of construction, which has 1 basement, 8 floors and a metal in the rooftop. The research methodology had a quantitative approach, supported by data collection and structural survey of the building with an exploratory level of investigation through invasive and non-invasive auscultations, extracting representative samples of structural elements such as beams, columns and plates with the purpose of verifying; strength and quality of concrete, distribution and creep of steel. With the information collected and data obtained from the tests, an experimental design was applied, in which the building was subjected to variables using real seismic records, which served as a stimulus to analyze the reaction of the building with the support of software. . Once the information was processed, results were obtained that, when interpreted, led to the conclusion that the building under study has structural elements that do not meet the demands required by the Peruvian standard, which make the building vulnerable. Finally, reinforcement methods are proposed for the structural elements that did not meet the demands. This will help them to comply with what is required by the standard.
