This research work aims to analyze the impact of ideological burdens on the representation of non-binary characters Syd (One day at a time), Call Bowman (Sex Education), Joey Riverton and Lindsay Brady (Good trouble) in audiovisual translation (ATV) to Latin American and Peninsular Spanish. In the source text, the non-binary characterization is carried out using an inclusive language that is not preserved in Latin American and Peninsular Spanish dubbing and subtitling since Spanish does not have the same grammar characteristics as English. Even if there are strategies as direct and indirect non-binary language, misgendering and censorship might occur. Due to that, this research work aims to analyze the diatopic varieties of Spanish, previously mentioned, in dubbing and subtitling, in order to contrast the use of direct and indirect non-binary language; and to determine if misgendering and censorship of non-binary characters occur through language. This research will be elaborated using the multiple study case and also the content analysis and the contrastive textual analysis techniques. For this reason, a bilingual corpus with the varieties of Spanish mentioned will be created to perform a contrastive textual analysis that will allow to determine the translation techniques used, and evalute if ideological burdens like conservatism and censorship condition non-binary identity representation.
