The purpose of this research work is to establish an alternative solution to improve the traffic of cyclists in the Oval of Miraflores, Lima, Peru. It intersects Arequipa, José Pardo, José Larco and Ricardo Palma avenues. This thesis consists of 5 chapters including conclusions, recommendations; in addition to bibliography, annexes. Chapter 1 presents the theoretical framework and the description of Vissim 9 software. Chapter 2 covers the methodology used in the thesis. In number 3, the current state of the area is diagnosed, possible solutions are determined and evaluated to verify their viability. In this way, ensure traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, in order to improve the situation of cyclists. Among the improvements, there are four scenarios, the first is the current configuration of the area, of which the respective analysis was carried out. The second includes geometric improvements such as a new distribution of bicycle lanes, implement a bicycle lane within the Ricardo Palma berm and thus return a vehicular lane to it and the correct segmentation of bicycle lanes. All this with the aim of reducing conflicts. The third scenario covers the traffic lights performed in addition to the geometric improvements, which was proposed as a proposal for an efficient and intelligent integrated system for the better transport of cyclists and the reduction of time on their trip. Finally, the fourth scenario encompasses the use of Synchro Traffic 8 software, which helps in optimizing the traffic light cycle in order, in sum, with the previous scenarios, to be able to reduce the travel time of vehicles and improve traffic in the area of study. Finally, this research concludes that the improvement measures proposed and adapted as a solution to the current problem, if it improves the study area effectively if it were to be implemented.
