Street culture constitutes a phenomenon involving elements that characterize individuals or groups that spend most of their time in public urban sectors. These elements vary according to environmental influences. This phenomenon can be observed in some open-world video games and contribute to their world-building. Cyberpunk 2077, this investigation’s object of study, is an open-world video game that focuses on Night City, a fictional city located in the United States. The dialogs of this video game include marked syntax, invented terms, implicatures, and informal terminology and phraseology, among others. Therefore, its localization process requires specific strategies for this type of difficulties. In this case, the investigation focuses on the representation of street culture in the dialogs of the Spanish localization of Cyberpunk 2077. Hence, the construction of this representation is analyzed in the dialogs of the Spanish localization in contrast to the original version in English. Regarding the methodology, the application of both content and contrastive analysis is proposed. On the one hand, the purpose of the first one is to recognize the linguistic characteristics of street culture in the dialogs of both versions to comprehend their effect on world-building. On the other hand, the purpose of the second one is to identify the localization strategies employed to comprehend how their linguistic characteristics varied regarding street culture.
