Social conflicts in Peru are usually covered from very different perspectives by the press. Although they are usually made visible through reports and chronicles in newspapers, it is necessary to consider that, on many occasions, there are certain criteria adopted by the media to disseminate this type of event. This approach can be differentiated by the editorial line of a media outlet, the preconceived ideas of journalists on a specific topic, the scarce or non-existent access to the areas where the conflict is taking place and, above all, by the proximity or the remoteness of what is happening in the interior of the country. For this reason, this research work seeks to analyze how the national and local media report on social conflicts and how they contribute to the creation of political and economic contexts that become part of the preconfigured image of citizens.
