La representación de la mujer en el libro Nueve Lunas (2009) de Gabriela Wiener y su traducción al inglés

Abstract

Nueve Lunas es una obra escrita por la autora y periodista peruana Gabriela Wiener en el año 2009. La narrativa de la obra se categoriza dentro de la estilística narrativa del periodismo gonzo, pues busca narrar la manera en la que la autora, convertida en la protagonista de su historia, percibe y describe la maternidad y la sexualidad de la mujer desde su experiencia personal durante la etapa del embarazo. A partir de ello, se empieza a configurar y construir la representación de la mujer en la obra según la subjetividad de la narración de la autora. Por tanto, la presente investigación propone, como objetivo principal, analizar cómo se construye la representación de la mujer sobre la base de la experiencia de la maternidad y la sexualidad en la obra Nueve Lunas (2009), y en su traducción al inglés Nine Moons (2020). Para ello, la investigación se enmarcará en un enfoque cualitativo, y se utilizará el método de estudio de caso. Además, se empleará la técnica de análisis de contenido para la producción y recolección de información; y la técnica de análisis textual contrastivo, que permitirá analizar cómo se construye la representación de la mujer en la traducción de la obra.

Nueve Lunas is a book written by Peruvian author and journalist Gabriela Wiener in 2009. The narrative of the book can be categorized within the narrative style of gonzo journalism, because it seeks to describe the way in which the author, as the protagonist of her story, perceives and describes motherhood and women’s sexuality from her personal experience during her pregnancy. On this basis, the representation of women in the book begins to be configured and constructed according to the subjective narration style of the author. Therefore, the main objective of this investigation is to analyze how the representation of women is constructed based on the experience of motherhood and women’s sexuality in the book Nueve Lunas (2009), and in its English translation Nine Moons (2020). For this purpose, this investigation takes a qualitative approach and uses the case study research method. Furthermore, the content analysis technique will be used to produce and collect information; and the contrastive textual analysis technique will allow us to analyze how the representation of women is constructed in the translation of the book.
