Virtual communities are spaces where fans or followers of a specific type of multimedia interact and exchange information. One type of frequently exchanged product is translations. For video game fans, translations have the primary function of expanding the fandom and attracting new fans. In virtual communities, moderators use techniques to achieve success, where user participation is constant. One of these techniques used in different fields like education and marketing is gamification, used to increase the motivation of users. For this reason, this study seeks to determine the aspects of gamification that contribute to the user’s participation. In this context, observing the participation of translators, who play an active role in the community, provides an adequate space to identify the elements of gamification. In order to obtain results, this study will focus on The Sims 4 mods translators who belong to the Simlish4 and Central Simmer communities. For the development of this study, it is proposed to apply surveys and observation guides in order to collect information about the motivations and activities of the translator users of these communities.
