Abstract: La presente investigación tiene como objetivo describir el sentido de vida en adultos mayores que usan tecnología digital de Lima – Perú. Se trató un estudio cualitativo con diseño fenomenológico. Se empleó la entrevista narrativa como técnica de recolección de información y el análisis de contenido fenomenológico como estrategia de análisis, para organizar la información en categorías emergentes y deductivas. Como resultados, se identificaron ocho categorías deductivas principales: propósitos de vida y crecimiento personal, experimentar los valores morales, autoestima, control, concepto de coherencia (comprensibilidad), necesidad de emoción y asombro, conectividad, y espiritualidad y religión. Se concluye que la tecnología digital inteligente durante el período de emergencia sanitaria, fue importante para el sentido de vida de los participantes. Esto se debe principalmente a los beneficios que ella les brindaba al usarla como herramienta, facilitando relaciones significativas, actividades gratificantes y espiritualidad y religión. Por ende, se propone que las intervenciones futuras con adultos mayores en situaciones de crisis deberían considerar la diversidad de temas asociados con el uso de la tecnología digital.
This research aims to describe the meaning of life in older adults who use digital technology in Lima - Peru. A qualitative study with a phenomenological design was tested. The same, a narrative interview was used as an information collection technique and phenomenological content analysis as an analysis strategy, to organize the information into emergent and deductive categories. As a result, from the analysis process, eight main deductive categories were found: life purposes and personal growth, experiencing moral values, self-esteem, control, concept of coherence (comprehensibility), need for emotion and wonder, connectivity, and spirituality and religion. It is concluded that intelligent digital technology during the health emergency period was important for the meaning of life of the participants. This is mainly due to the benefits that it brought to them by using it as a tool, facilitating meaningful relationships, rewarding activities, and spirituality and religion. Therefore, it is proposed that future interventions with older adults in crisis situations should consider the diversity of issues associated with the use of digital technology.
