In this research, a description of conventional methods and a compilation of non-conventional methods for soil liquefaction mitigation has been carried out, with emphasis on non-conventional methods. The scenario in which this research has been developed is the city of Chimbote, in the department of Ancash, Peru; since this locality has the ideal conditions for this phenomenon to occur: granular soil, poor gradation, low relative density, phreatic level and seismic zone 4, in addition to having documented this phenomenon occurred in the earthquake of May 31, 1970 in that area. The analysis and compilation of information was based on geotechnical literature, soil liquefaction mitigation procedures used by various companies and a real project (“Fishmeal Plant“), in order to propose the most suitable methods and make a comparison between them, choosing the most technically feasible and economical. Finally, it’s concluded that the most technically feasible and economical soil liquefaction mitigation method is the rammed aggregate pier.
