Introduction: Hemophilia is a hereditary coagulopathy, and its clinical presentation is characterized by intra-articular or extra-articular hemorrhage. Bleeding occurs mainly in the joints causing pain and temporary or permanent joint limitation that affects your quality of life. Objective: To determine if there is an association between depressive symptoms and quality of life in adult hemophiliacs in Peru, 2020. Materials and methods: Analytical cross-sectional observational study that recruited a patient with hemophilia older than 18 years enrolled in the Peruvian Association of Hemophilia or other coagulopathies (ASPEH) between November 2020 and March 2021. 2 validated instruments were used for these variables: Hemolatin -QoL and PHQ-9, which were entered in a virtual form and were filled out by patients with hemophilia. Results: A total of 509 male participants were enrolled with a mean age of 31 years. The study found that hemophiliacs with depressive symptoms are 14.9 times more likely to have a poor quality of life than those without depressive symptoms. Conclusions: These study findings can provide significant information on the association between depressive symptoms and poor quality of life. However, longitudinal studies are recommended to demonstrate risk or causal factors.Key words: Peru; poor quality of life; depressive symptoms; hemophilia .
