The arrival of COVID- 19 pandemic brought about many changes in various social sectors. One of the sectors where the changes were more visible was the educational sector since the teaching modality changed from face to face to virtual. This sudden change affected several students and the way they learned a language independently, as in the case of students of the Chinese language program from the translation and interpreting career. Due to the fact that the pandemic generated by COVID-19 affected the way of learning Chinese, students had to adapt to different changes such as: a new study environment and new ways of studying. In the same way, part of their Chinese autonomous learning was affected. Therefore, the main objective of the present study is to analyze the perceptions of students of Chinese from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas on their autonomous learning development in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to achieve this goal, interviews to students of the Chinese program will be conducted in ten students that had taken face to face and online classes. Likewise, the objectives of this study will be taken into account through into its development.
