In the context of the pandemic, the aggravated perception of symptoms due to fear of contagion, previous psychological disorders and media misinformation have influenced the appearance of suggestibility and styles of coping with stress. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between suggestibility and coping with stress in 316 young adults from Metropolitan Lima during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Suggestibility Inventory - IS and the Mexican version of the Abbreviated Stress Coping Questionnaire (CAE) were applied. The results show that higher degrees of Fantasy and Influence are related to five styles of coping with stress. The study confirms that there is a significant relationship between some dimensions of the suggestibility variable and some dimensions of the styles of coping with stress in the studied population during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results imply that poorly adaptive coping styles could generate a greater vulnerability to the appearance of mental disorders, while adaptive ones could be support or protective factors to face stress.
