The aim of this study was to relate the dimensions of emotional regulation and academic burnout syndrome in university health science students. A correlational study was conducted in a sample of 200 peruvian students of medicine, nursing, dentistry, nutrition, and physical therapy; of which 73% were women and 27% men, aged 18-55 years (M=22.71, SD=3.19). The instruments used were the Emotional Self-Regulation Questionnaire adapted for Peru (ERQP) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey (MBI-SS). The results showed that all correlations were statistically significant (p < .05), although of low magnitude. The cognitive reappraisal dimension correlates positively with the academic self-efficacy dimension, while it correlates negatively with the emotional exhaustion and cynicism dimensions. On the other hand, the emotional suppression dimension correlates positively with the emotional exhaustion and cynicism dimensions, while it correlates negatively with the academic self-efficacy dimension.
