This thesis proposes the mitigation of garbage accumulation that affects vulnerable populations, such as the community of Cerro el Pino, where a big part of this community is involved into sale of recycled material as economic sustenance. For this reason, generating economic income for families dedicated into the informal materials recycling, was an opportunity that had to be taken. That’s why, incorporating an appropriate building for the development of this activity that integrates the project in the dynamics and urban fabric, would be a challenge. Accordingly, the project consists in a Materials Recovery Center, which develops the theme of “Incorporation of manufacturing typology in urban areas“. This theme is developed taking into account concepts of urbanism such as: the management of scale, the relationship of the building with the context and incorporation of flexible spaces.
