Objective: To describe the attitudes and practices regarding musculoskeletal pain (MSP) presented by university teachers in Peru during social confinement. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional observational design study was carried out through a virtual survey of teachers at a private university in Lima, Peru, who gave classes through virtual and/or face-to-face teaching during the university periods 2020-02, 2021-00 and/or 2021-01. Results: 317 surveys were analyzed. Regarding pain, more than 75% of teachers chose the following attitudes: professional treatment (89.2%- 96.5%), face-to-face attention (85.2%), receiving physiotherapeutic treatment (87.4%), taking breaks during their working day (76.7%) and doing leisure activities to manage discomfort (75.4%- 80%). In addition, the most common response to MSP was annoyance, discomfort and inconvenience, and most of the respondents considered that the MSP originated as a result of prolonged positions. On the other hand, in reference to their practices, about 60% of the teachers usually receive professional treatment and between 30.9% to 50.5% of respondents do not have a preference for the virtual or face-to-face modality. Likewise, between 26.5% and 30% of teachers usually receive medical-pharmacological treatment, 60.6% remained at work when the pain appeared and only 45.1% took breaks when the pain worsened. No relevant differences were found when teachers from health areas were compared with teachers from other areas. Conclusions: In summary, attitudes and practices of MSP were not similar, since most teachers do not usually perform the activities they consider convenient when it comes to managing pain that appears or that worsens.
