This research analyzes the influence of the p-delta effect on the structural behavior of a building with irregular height. The models or study cases corresponding to the buildings of 15 and 20 floors are proposed. The models or cases that present irregularity in height are defined. First, the linear dynamic analysis procedure is performed to determine the structural response in terms of drift, shear force, and moments per story. Then, nonlinear static analysis is performed to obtain the capacity curve. The post-elastic stiffness and overall ductility of the structure are determined from the capacity curve. The performance point is determined using the Coefficients method (ASCE/SEI41-13) for each level of seismic hazard. With the results obtained, the variation in the structural response (story drifts, shear force, moments), in the global ductility of the structure and the seismic performance in the different earthquake cases is determined. When analyzing the structures that consider the irregularity of the stiffness and the p-delta effect, variations of up to 16.50%, 11.00% and 14.00% have been obtained in the drifts, shear and moments per floor, respectively, which are considerable values.
