The academic demands faced by university students result in physical and mental exhaustion, added to this are concerns about the pandemic. The objective was to relate anxiety in the face of COVID-19 and emotional intelligence in students from universities in Metropolitan Lima. As specific objectives, the study variables were compared according to sex, attendance at therapeutic process and diagnosis of COVID-19. The design was simple and comparative correlational, with the participation of 229 people (177 women and 52 men) aged between 18 and 29 years. The Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) and the Brief Instrument of Emotional Intelligence for the Elderly (EQ-i-M20) were used. The results show a significant correlation between anxiety in the face of COVID-19 and only the State of Mood dimension. In addition, higher Stress Management and anxiety scores against COVID-19 were found in women, while men maintain higher scores in the Intrapersonal, Adaptability and Mood dimensions. Psychological assistants maintain higher scores in the Intrapersonal and Interpersonal dimensions. No statistically significant differences were shown with the diagnostic variable of COVID-19. It is concluded that there is a significant relationship between anxiety in the face of COVID-19 and the mood dimension of EI. The better the State of Mood, the less anxiety in the face of COVID 19. Similar anxiety scores were found based on gender and the diagnosis of COVID-19. In relation to attending a therapeutic process, those who did not have it present lower scores in anxiety.
