Biotrade is a business model implemented in the Andean countries, and it seeks to value and preserve the biological diversity of the countries generating economic and social benefits for exporting companies. That is why the promoting Peruvian public entities are promoting Brazil nut biotrade. In recent years, the increase in imports of this fruit forced Peru to position itself as one of the main exporting countries in international markets, placing it in third place (PromPerú, 2004). The main objective of this study is to determine to what extent Biotrade as a business model is related to the export performance of companies exporting fresh or dried shelled Brazil nuts, between the years 2014-2018. For which, the dimensions analyzed for the variable “Biotrade“ are: “Economic Pillar“, “Environmental Pillar“ and “Social Pillar“. Likewise, for the variable “Export performance“, “Economic results“ and “Entry into new markets“ have been analyzed. The research was carried out under a mixed approach with a cross-sectional descriptive - correlational design. On the qualitative phase, 10 semi-structured interviews were conducted with experts on topics related to Biotrade and chestnut exporting companies; and analyzed through the Atlas Ti tool. On the quantitative phase was carried surveys on a Likert scale, which were filled out by 20 chestnut companies and processed using SPSS software. Finally, the significance value of 0.006 and the Rho Spearman coefficient of 0.588, showed that there is a moderate positive correlation between dependent and independent variable. Additionally, the relationship of the dimensions with export performance was determined.
